The 2022 Volvo XC60 has more power and more choice under the hood
The XC60 delivers when you need more powertrain options. The B5 and B6 engines now add mild hybrid technology to the lineup. The B5 engine uses a four-cylinder 2.0-litre turbocharged engine connected to a 48-volt hybrid system. The combined output is rated at 247 horsepower and 258 lb-ft. It consumes as little as 9.4 L/100 km city/highway combined.
Next up, the B6 engine uses a similar base, but a supercharger is added to enhance performance. The total output ranks in at 295 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. This engine only uses 9.9 L/100 km combined city/highway.
Finally, the plug-in T8 powertrain is offered in Recharge and Polestar Engineered models. This unit proposes an output of 400 horsepower in the Recharge model. Performance enthusiasts will love the Polestar Engineered model, which tweaks this powertrain to 415 horsepower.
The QX50 only offers a turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that is limited to 268 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque. Although this is a little more than the XC60's T5, it uses more fuel, with a 9.7 L/100 km combined rating.
Overall, the XC60 is more efficient and capable than the QX50.
