The 2022 Volvo S60 has been improved this year
May 10 2022,
2022 Brings some cosmetic and mechanical changes to the Volvo S60 in order to help it stay one of the leading models in the premium compact sedan segment, Here are three ways in which is has been made better.
The T8 Recharge powertrain
The 2022 Volvo S60 is available with the latest version of the T8 Recharge drivetrain, which is the most sophisticated, powerful and efficient engine ever produced by Volvo. This is due to the new 18.8 kWh battery that replaces the previous 11.6 kWh unit and a new electric motor for the rear axle. The 143 horsepower this motor makes on its own make the e-AWD system much more effective and they combine with the gasoline engine to produce 455 horsepower, which is more than any other Volvo cars ever made.
The standard B5 mild hybrid
For 2022, every version of the Volvo S60 has been made a hybrid. This has been achieved by replacing the T5 engine with the B5, a virtually identical engine which adds a 48-volt hybrid system that results in a very low fuel consumption and the expected level of performance. Since the B5 powertrain is standard, this means that every buyer will be able to benefit from electrification in some form or another, even in the most affordable Momentum model.
An array of cosmetic changes
The 2022 Volvo S60 shows a couple of exterior modifications, such as new taillamps, new exhaust pipes, new wheel designs, additional colours and a reworked front bumper on some trims. Inside, the story is similar since the leather on the steering wheel and on the key has been replaced with a more sustainable and cruelty-free material and a new wireless phone charger has found a home on the center console. These changes, small as they seem, make the 2022 Volvo S60 look and feel like a new model due to its elegant and timeless design.
