The New Volvo C40 Recharge
February 20 2022,
The new Volvo C40 Recharge is the second electric Volvo model and the first one to be available only with an electric drivetrain.
An unmistakable look
The new Volvo C40 Recharge is a very distinctive compact SUV that adds its own twist to this segment with its coupe-like appearance. The C40 Recharge shows a curved and sloping roofline which ends in a small duck-tail spoiler at the back. This not only gives the C40 Recharge a unique and elegant look, but it also makes it more efficient than the related XC40 Recharge by allowing a smoother and less disturbed airflow around the rear. Other distinctive elements include the exterior lamps, which are unmistakably Volvo and yet, unique to this model. Indeed, the rear lamps take on the shape that has been associated with Volvo wagons and SUVs for over 20 years and adds a modern touch to it by separating the part that runs alongside the rear glass into 4 separate light modules, thus making the C40 Recharge easily recognisable even in the dark.
An advanced powertrain
The new Volvo C40 Recharge is powered by the most modern electric drivetrain Volvo has to offer. Its 78-kWh battery pack is able to provide enough electricity for it to be able to drive 360 kilometers on a single charge, despite having two motors that are powerful enough, with 402 horsepower, to allow acceleration times from 0 to 100 km/h of only 4.7 seconds. If you need to take a long road trip, the battery can be fast charged from 10% to 80% in only 33 minutes, which means you can take a short break to eat and stretch your legs before continuing on your way for about 300 kilometers before you need to stop again. In order to maximise the battery’s efficiency, especially in winter, you can program preconditioning timers which warm up the battery and the cabin before you set off, while the vehicle is still plugged-in to a charger.
