Three Reasons to Buy a New Volvo S60 Recharge Now More Than Ever
May 25 2022,
The Volvo S60 is a very stylish sedan with unique Scandinavian styling cues and performance that rivals can’t quite emulate. It offers a good choice of powertrain options, great technologies inside and out and plenty of space for passengers and cargo. Moreover, its carefully calibrated chassis delivers unparalleled driving dynamics.
The S60 Recharge model delivers the best balance between power and efficiency by using electrification to produce enhanced levels of performance, while allowing drivers to drive long distances without using fuel.
This year, Volvo has improved its T8 Recharge plug-in hybrid powertrain for many models including the S60 Recharge, giving it more power, more efficiency and improved driveability.
Here are three reasons to buy a new Volvo S60 Recharge now more than ever.
The 2022 Volvo S60 gets better all-electric range
All-electric range is important in a plug-in hybrid because it makes the best compromises between a gas engine and a fully electric powertrain. In the city and on shorter distances, you’re basically driving an EV. But on the weekends, you can take off and drive wherever you want, without having to worry about charging stations. The new 18.8 kWh battery in the 2022 S60 Recharge now provides 64 kilometres of all-electric range. This is a significant improvement from the 35-kilometre rating of the outgoing model, which was provided by an 11.6 kWh unit.
The 2022 Volvo S60 Recharge gets more technologies
Technological enhancements are also part of the new S60 Recharge. The new battery allows owners to pre-heat or pre-cool the cabin in the winter and summer remotely via the Volvo Cars app, even when the car is not plugged in.
Eventually, the 2022 Volvo S60 Recharge will also be available with the one-pedal drive feature. This will allow drivers to control acceleration and deceleration using only the accelerator pedal.
The 2022 Volvo S60 Recharge is much more powerful
The T8 powertrain now pairs with a more powerful rear electric motor that delivers 143 hp, a significant upgrade from the outgoing unit which was rated at 87 hp. This gives the new Volvo S60 Recharge a combined output rating of 455 horsepower!
This new motor makes the S60 Recharge nimbler at low speeds, when towing, or when driving on slippery roads in the winter.
